How do you get in-store credit?

You bring in your books; one of us will assess them and make you a trade credit offer. If you accept the offer, we “open” a card for you and store the credit in our files.

How does in-store credit work?

1. Every time you make a purchase from Sleepy Hollow Bookshop, and you have in-store credit with us, you will ALWAYS pay the first half of your bill with cash (cash, check credit/debit card, etc.)

2. When you have in-store credit, you can use it toward the payment of up to 50% of your bill (if you have enough in-store credit).

3. If you have more credit than you need to cover 50% of a bill, then we will keep remainder in your file to be used on your future purchase(s).

The FOUR Things Credit Does Not Work On

1. Non-book items (bookmarks, jewelry, totes, etc.).
2. Books by local authors. They are full price and belong to the authors, not us.
3. Clearance items. They’re already as inexpensive as they’ll get, short of being a gift.
4. Items marked NET (Not Eligible for Trade). These are usually books we paid cash for, and we need to recoup our investment.
